3 traffic-related motorcycle accidents to avoid this spring

Everyone in California looks forward to spring, especially in areas that get a bit chilly in the winter. Hayward is one such area, with temperatures that discourage winter riding for some. Spring brings cyclists out in droves and as the season approaches, it is important to reacquaint yourself with some of the most common traffic-related motorcycle accidents. This can help make you aware of potential dangers and take steps to avoid them.

1. Watch out for vehicles turning in front of you. Unfortunately, many motorists fail to see motorcycles as they prepare to make a turn. You can reduce your odds of experiencing a motorcycle accident in these conditions by keeping your eyes on other motorists at all times.

2. Another traffic danger involving motorists occurs when a driver does not see you while changing lanes. If your bike is in the driver's blind spot or if the driver simply does not look carefully, he or she could collide with you. Educate yourself about blind spots so that you can avoid them and practice caution in areas where lane changing is common.

3. Finally, one of the most dangerous traffic-related motorcycle accidents occurs when another vehicle strikes a stopped motorcycle from behind. When these accidents occur between two cars or trucks, it is likely just a fender bender. When a car strikes a motorcycle, the consequences could be much worse. Practice caution at traffic signals or anytime you come to a stop in traffic.

When motorcycle accidents occur, victims often feel there is little he or she can do to be made whole. Fortunately, the legal system offers victims options to recover compensation from the responsible parties. Speaking with a personal injury attorney is a great way to learn about these options.
